LASIK Eye Surgery

LASIK Timeline
Most people choose to have LASIK surgery on both eyes at the same time, but bilateral simultaneous treatment does involve additional risk. If you have one eye done at a time, you and your eye doctor will determine when to have the second surgery performed. That’s generally after the initial eye has healed fully.

LASIK Recovery
While most people can resume normal activities within a day or so after LASIK surgery, you may experience some blurry vision for up to two weeks.
During the first week, avoid touching your eyes. Doing so could impede the healing of the corneal flap. Eye makeup is out of the question for the week following LASIK surgery.
You must also stay out of pools, hot tubs, lakes and other bodies of water. When the doctor gives the okay to head into the pool, wear goggles to protect your eyes for a few weeks.
It does take between three and six months for full eye healing post-LASIK. Some patients develop temporary dry eye or have issues with glare for a while post-surgery. By having the procedure performed in the winter or early spring, you can take full advantage of all the great water sports of summer.
